welll.....ermmmmmm lol

make up can make people look very ugly, like nicole kidman with that fake nose in the hours!

Not Scarlett for Anne of Cleves because she was a curvy woman )and Jane a fragile thin woman), switch the Barrymore and Johanssen roles. Also Renee Z. can play Anne, but Anne was so small. She only significant because she was the one who outlived all of the ex-wives, including Parr. Ashley as Howard, no way! Liv Tyler, she's young and can play a teen. Bolelyn should be add older woman, like Naomi Watts or Zeta Jones. Monica Belluci can be Catherine of Aragon. Being Italian, she can pull off the Spanish accent. She also has proven she can play the martyr (Mary Magdelene in The Passion of the Christ).

So:

Catherine of Aragon: Monica Belluci or Catherine Zeta-Jones
Anne Boleyn: Catherine Zeta-Jones
Jane Seymour :Naomi Watts
Anne of Cleves: Renee Zelliweiger
Katherine Howard: Scarlett Johannsen
Katheryn Parr: Nicole Kidman

ok, yeah i agree with Monica Belluci as Catherine of Aragon. Perfect!
Yeah, Anne Boleyn wasnt 'young', but she was hardly ancient, i think Tyler would be good as Anne Boleyn... or Jennifer Garner.
Naomi Watts.. YERR!! Shes good.... she looks right... well not right, Jane had a small chin and small beady eyes... but she'll do...
I think Scarlett should play Anne of cleaves, if they could get her to gain some wait, and go with the plumper version of her in the girl with the pearl earing.
Now for Katherine Howard..Ashley Olsen..what was I thinking... Keira Knightly? Argh, she was small...
Christina Ricci?? Mandy Moore??
Katherine Parr should be a brown haired Nicole Kidman! Cmon, Nicole aint young, like Katherine.. It will do eey!

I agree with just about everything except Drew Barrymore as Jane Seymour. isn't Jane Seymour sopposed to be frail and, what's the word, dainty? I like Liv Tyler as Anne Boleyn.
Sure the list is a little A list, but it's about time they did a major picture on Henry V111's wives. It's a pretty fascinating story...

i'd forget about the hollywood trash and get some real british actresses. masterpiece theatre's "henry viii"'s cast is as far as i go. no one beats helena bonham carter as anne boleyn, emily blunt is THE perfect katherine howard, and emilia fox makes the best jane.

reply

I have to agree with you - Helena Bonham Carter has the whole 'dark eyes' thing going for her..although i think Anne would have been slightly thinner (not that Helena's fat - far from it)

I liked Emily Blunt, but hmm Katherne was chubbier, and a lot shorter (only 4ft), Emily is a bit too sexy for that i think

Emilia Fox made a brilliant Jane and I liked Assumpta Serna as Catherine of Aragon.

And Ray Winstone as Henry VIII was love!

reply

the reason why Helena looked a bit chubby was because she was pregnant while they were filming. but she definitely had Anne Boleyn's famous goggle eyes.(i have them too)

Katherine of Aragon wasn't dark, so I wouldn't select Catherine Zeta Jones or Monica Belluci. Despite coming from Spain, she had blue eyes, and auburn hair. I'd say Nicole Kidman, if she'd be willing to gain some weight!

Anne Boelyn, Liv Tyler could be a possibilty, except for the blue eyes - Anne was famous for her dark hair and eyes, and an olive complexion, so I would go with Keira Knightley, she has the wide mouth as well. But she might be a little young, Anne was thirty when she finally married Henry, and Keira's only 24. She might need making up to look a little older (unlike most of the women used in David Starkey's series!) Rose Byrne would be another, and I think probably the best, option, I think she'd do an excellent job, and she looks closer to the right age and the Tudor standards I think.

Jane Seymour - pale and beautiful and slender. Personally I think Charlotte Roach (who played her in the David Starkey series) was the only one I thought had been suitably cast, and I think she did well, but for a dream cast? I'm not sure. Maybe Amy Smart, maybe Sienna Miller who I loathe but I think has about the right look, or Julia Stiles. I find Jane the hardest because she's describe as fair and attractive, but I think her portrait is the most awful.

Anne of Cleves - not as ugly as she was said to be, and I'm confused as to why so many people have cited Scarlett Johansson for her, who I consider to be one of the most beautiful women in the world. I'd say Renee Zellweger personally, Maggie Gyllenhaal or Ginnifer Goodwin.

But I prefer Ginnifer Goodwin as casting for Catherine Howard, although she's actually far too old, I think she looks quite young enough. Considering somebody closer in age, perhaps either of the Emma Roberts - Hermione or the Wild Child.

And for Katherine Parr? I'd say Kate Winslet - she's old enough to look mature enough for the role of his last wife, who was in her thirties when she married him.

Sorry for such a long post!
