Extras on Series 2 DVD???

I remember reading somwhere (maybe on this board actually) That there was an extra where Jack didn't like his Medibot face, don't know if it was a suggestion as a good extra or if it's actually on the DVD, I only seem to have the ceefax, quizzes, scray picture, birds of Britian & test card!

Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail-R.W Emerson

Really enjoyed the wierd little extras on the series 2 dvd, but the commentary leaves a lot to be desired. Peter has a cold and spent most of the 1st episodes commentary complaining about how awefully stressful making series 2 had been.

Has anyone stuck with the commentaries? Do they improve or is it just a long whinge with lots of long commentary pauses for all 6 episodes?

I had to stop listening as it was slightly depressing me in the end. Bit of Garth Marhengi commentary on Darkplace soon cheered me up mind you!

The "I'm Alan Partridge" commentaries with the writers are well worth listening to. They provide some backstory for the characters that never made it into the scripts

E.g. Michael, instead of showering at home, washes himself down in the toilet in the garage where he works.

Another good one: Between series 1 and 2, DJ Dave Clifton got a big break on Virgin Radio, but blew it after two weeks when he went back on the bottle. He had to return to Radio Norwich with tail between legs.

Thanks Sir Charles, I won't bother proceeding if they're much the same all the way through. What a wasted opportunity - sometimes a commentary can double my dvd enjoyment. The Look Around You crew only harshed my fragile '70s comedy buzz.

You make a good point about commentaries in character - Spinal Tap did and excellent job on their dvd, as did Garth and Dean - but I'm fond of the odd anecdote about the making of programs, influences etc. The Spaced crew's commentaries are very listenable indeed.

Lucky for Look Around You they did have the Scarey Picture as an extra - nothing like a shaggy dog story!

Ohh - mate, you're the gift that just keeps on giving!!

I hadn't heard of Shirley Ghostman before - but with Peter Baynham on writing credits that'll be a must buy. Cheers for the tip - I miss out some of these gems living 'down under'.

I tried watching the dvd with the commentary turned on last night and soon regretted it.
How many times did PS stress how difficult it was to write Series 2? How often did he go on about his bleedin' cold?
And how about when he said, "oh well, only another 165 minutes to go....". I'd like to think that this was an ironic comment but I don't think it actually was.
Christ, with all the time taken to put the dvd together so beautifully, the commentary should've been the icing on the cake. Sadly not.

Learn from your fellow comics on Spaced. I've listened to these commentaries many, many times and still never get bored.
