I am significantly less charmed by the current season shown on BBC America than what I saw last year. The grainy film, along with the wonderful voice-over (germs being from Germany) seemed so much more sincere than the current season.

Absolutely. After loving the first series, my girlfriend and I couldn't trudge through a full episode of the second season. We were very disappointed.

I think my biggest problem with the second series is the length. The fifteen minute episodes are a perfect length, but the 30 minuters are too long to be consistently funny. They have their moments, but it a lot more uneven.
