I was wondering what kind of fighting Steven Seagal specializes in, to me it looks like he's just playing patty-cake though. For real, he just stands there and moves his hands. I don't think he actually knows how to fight. Or he had too much of texas BBQ.

but i'm not sure if he trains or runs a Dojo any more, every Aikido student I know (myself being one) does not do the whole "arm flailing thing" I think that is just something he adds himself, not really sure why.

He does indeed hold 7th degree in Aikido.
And that really shows through in his earlier films, Nico, Marked for death, Out for justice etc, where his technique was very strong and he dominated his opponents very well.
But in his later films he seems to put in far more kicks and games of patty-cake, I think he just pulls from whatever he sees and likes nowadays.

Seagal is the real deal for sure. He studied aikido and was an instructor in Japan so you know he's legit. But his movies in the past decade have been awful. This is the latest one I've seen and it's as bad as alot of the others. Really bad edits and more obvious stuntmen for Seagal. The story is good but the screenplay was really bad.
