Why so few threads?
I've never seen a popular movie with so few threads on its board, how come?? As of now, there are only 8 threads, this one's the 9th. I would have expected pages and pages, just like on other boards...
Otherwise, the movie was just awesome 8/10. Which is kind of a surprise since 50's-60's rock and probably rock in general aren't really my cup of tea, yet i still found myself genuinely enjoying the songs and moving my head to the the tune. The song and the scene at Falsom was pure magic, musically, acting-wise and cinematographically. Great songs all around.
This movie made me discover and like Johnny Cash, just like Watchmen made me discover and like Bob Dylan or Ray made me discover and like Ray Charles, although i was a little bit more familiar with him. Never really managed to connect with The Doors (1991), but maybe i should give it another try.
Phoenix completely stole the show, i have no idea how anybody can reach that level of credibility; he is a great actor all around anyway. He looked like a real badass with the glasses talking to the producers right before the Folsom scene. Black suit, black glasses, i love it.
As for Whitherspoon, she was never really on the map as far as i'm concerned (aside from Legally Blonde 1&2, i have not seen much from her), but this movie proves that she has at least one breathtaking performance under her belt. In this, she was simply amazing.
All in all, i think i still slightly prefer Ray, but both ended up with the same rating in my book: 8/10.
People who don't like their beliefs being laughed at shouldn't have such funny beliefs
