Black and white version of Shall we dance?

H, everyone. I remeber watching as a kid (15-20 years ago) a black and white movie which had the exact story line as shall we dance with Richard Gere. It had similar three guys learning how to dance. One of them was a rather fat man that had a swetting problem and there was the exact same scene where his dance partner goes ballistic on him about his sweat and hearts his feelings (only he wasn't going to be engaged, he was just dancing because he found something that made him happy) after which the woman faints and end's up in a hospital.

I distinctly remeber it was an english speaking movie, it was black and white or some very early stage of the colour movies and it had that exact scene in it.

I've read a lot of the posts here on the Japanese version Shall we Dansu? and i've looked up the Fred Astere movie which ssems to have little to do with this plot. None of these movies are what i remember watching as a kid.

I am 100 % sure that this is not just my imagination playing tricks on me :) so i'm just wondering if there is anybody who remembers or has seen a movie that fits this description?

Especialy since i didn't find a movie listing on IMDB which fits the movie that i remeber.

I'm pretty sure that the Japenese Shall We Dansu? is an original screenplay. Usually if a movie is adapted from an earlier work (movie or novel) there is a mention of its adaptation in the credits. There is no mention of this anywhere I can find and the Japanese film won the Japanese Academy Award for best screenplay. The American movie gives credit to the Japanese film as the source.

I do seem to remember some old movie about three guys dancing with the fat one being clumsy but not any of the other details you remember. Perhaps your memory of this old movie is just a conglomerate of several scenes from a
movie(s) which your brain has put into one? There is a movie called Får jag lov, magistern! (Shall we dance mr teacher) from 1947 but it is a Swedish movie.
