Good God, do people have nothing better to do than to criticize Lopez in everything she does? Every time I go to a message board there are multiple threads trashing Lopez and her work in all her movies (with the exception of Selena and Out of Sight). I personally think she is a fine actress, not the best, but good. I found her performance in this movie to be really good, delicate and vulnerable, two attributes J.Lo does not portray often. Secondly, Lopez wasn't a big enough part of the movie to ruin it. People have said that she killed the movie but the only thing she really did was keep John interested in dancing, and that's it.

Does anyone else agree, or am I talking out of my ass?

no, I agree with you. I dont think she was that bad. Actually she wasnt bad at all. Shes a WAAAYY better actress than she is singer and I actually like most of her movies when i'm in the mood for something nice and cheesy (with the exception of Enough, cant stand that movie!)

JLo has done some realy good movies (I mean she rocked as 'psycho b*tch' U-Turn :D) but then again, she also did movies like Maid in Manhattan / the weddingplanner Etc...

It's just that lately she's trying to get the 'oh I'm such a lovely girl' parts but those roles suck 9 out of 10 times....

An Unfinisched life though was an example of a JLo that CAN act...

Jennifer WASN'T the star of this movie and people seem to forget that. Susan Sarandon and Richard Gere are the headliners of this movie. Lopez has a secondary role here. And she did an excellent job in her supporting role.

I don't think its fair to compare a crappy horrible actresss like Madonna to someone of true talent like Jennifer Lopez. Lopez can actually act as she has proven in many movies from Selena, Out of Sight, Maid In Manhattan, Unfinished life, and Monster in Law. And unlike Madonna, Jennifer actually has had critical and box office success.

JLo is very underrated as an actress if you ask me. People don't even attempt to think she's good, they just think oh It's Lopez it's gonna suck. As well as in those movies Selena, Out of Sight, Maid in Manhattan, Unfinished Life, and Monster in Law she is also very, very good in Angel Eyes. I am not saying she is the best actress out there, but she is good and can pull of better roles than she plays. She may not be of Meryl Streep acting ability or even close, but she can act good.

Having just watched the movie i thought she was perfectly cast and delivered a spot on performance.
I would be hard-pressed naming someone else i thought could play the part just as well (which is not the case with some of the other principal players).
Towards the end the movie almost collapsed under too much sappyness and too many cardboard characters, but it was definitely not Jennifer Lopez fault.

yes i do agree with you . she actually did a wonderful job in this movie . The way she potrayed her pain and vulnerability in this movie was surprising . and her dance with gere in the movie was mindblowing .

Sorry, I thought this was posted recently, but I hope you or someone can help me. Unless I buy the movie, I can't listen to the song "Andelucia" from the movie, because I don't know the artist who does this song. Can anyone out there help me? I love the song. I think this is the song Richard Gere and Lopez danced to together. And in answer to your question about her, no you are not wrong, she was hot, and was the reason the movie kept our attention, otherwise it would've been more like a Disney Family night get together. Jennifer Lopez brought the heat to the dancing, and represented John's feelings for life.

I agree. Jennifer is a fine actress. I wish she would have had a little bit of a bigger part.

I agree, dear lord she has a lot of haters, and they make it seem like she was the shining star of the movie, when it was Gere and Sarandon. Regardless, I think she's a good actress- not the best, but I love all her movies :-D - and sure is she is a kick ass dancer! Definitely a good role for her.

god please dont call 'maid in manhattan' a good movie... If you were to come up with out of sight and Uturn, I would have agreed...

JLo can actually act quite okay, but doing films like maid in manhattan, is just a little sad...

on top of that, this topic started about her fat ass, not her talent as an actress so...
