Subs?

I just watched this movie on Showtime today. All the flashback scenes are not dubbed and have no subtitles. What gives? Are the dvd releases like that also? I would like a dvd with the orginal dialoge and subtitles for me. However I also want the dvd to have a dubbed track for my 8 year old daughter(she has trouble reading the subs and watching at the same time, I remember hating subtitles til I was 12 or 13) when we watch it together. Thanks in advance for any help.

Weird. It had subtitles in the theaters and it has subs on the DVD. Why would Showtime remove the subs. Sheesh! And those parts are important to the story (and get quite hilarious!). I recommend renting the DVD. At least that way you'll have it. Silver Hawk was released in the US on DVD a bit back, though I was hoping it would get released in theaters.

As for the dubbed track, Silver Hawk was shot scene by scene twice in most cases. Except for the flashback scenes, where they have subtitles, the rest was either shot in Cantonese (if appropriate for the Asia version) or English. So the US version is completely in English except for the flashbacks.

Yeah I just watched Silver Hawk on Showtime HD. Definitely enjoyed the movie, but those flashback scenes were still in Mandarin with no subs or dubs. You can get the idea of what was going on, but it was still quite annoying.

I watched a later airing on Showtime, where they did have subtitles... but they were about 3 seconds early. Long enough that they seemed to perfectly match up to what the previous speaker was saying, equalling great confusion.

I saw it on E-ATN Channel on cable. It was in English with subs for the Mandarin sections. Worked fine for me.
