The story details the adventures of several young Americans who volunteered for the French military before the United States entered World War I. They ultimately became the first U.S. fighter pilots and were known as the Lafayette Escadrille. Some of it is being filmed in London ( I know, I'm in it) James Franco (Spiderman) and Jean Reno will lead the cast in Electric Entertainment’s epic production Flyboys, to be directed by Tony Bill (The Sting). It also stars British stalwart Tim Piggot-Smith (Jewel in the crown) Electric principal Dean Devlin (Stargate, Independance Day) and Marc Frydman will produce. The screenplay was written by David Ward, based on an original screenplay by Phil Sears and Blake Evans. Principal photography began in the United Kingdom on April 18th.

Uh...frank-250 has is correct. This film isn't a WWI story, frank -250 should know, he's part of the cast. And just so those who read this know, the film is coming close to being released. They're working on the score to the film as of yet. Although scrimnet is right about the plot for the "other" Flyboys film coming from Britain in 2006. It's on another page though: http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0454824/

This is the link to it.

It is set in WW1. It's either that or the american pilots in WW2 flew Sopwith pups and the Germans flew Fokker Triplanes

Correctamundo!

This film is set in WWII. I read the book. The charactiers listed in IMDB are from the book.

dude, its deffinatly set in WW1. The book may be set in WWII, but i fly from the airfield that they shot the film and there was a whole hanger full of WW1 bi and tri planes. It even features the red barrons triplane - that deffinatly wasnt WW2!

reply

Hey! Both of you are wrong...you're talking about a completely different flyboys movie..There are two coming out in 2006 and you're talking about the other one.

reply

Just to be clear to those still confused, there are two Flyboys in production. The WWII one can be found here: http://pro.imdb.com/title/tt0454824/

I noticed that the title of this one in IMDB recently changed to The Flyboys, which should help a little.
