Try watching it again after you read this. Keep an open mind.

The Bogeyman was a masterpiece of literature in film. In this version of the Bogeyman, the filmmakers were very subtle in presenting the underlying theme of the story. The entire film was a metaphor for life as a repressed homosexual male and how he had to fight his fears of the much anticipated "coming-out-of-the-closet", literally. The boy creates an alter ego in the form of the "little girl that lived inside of him" from childhood. He is emotionally abused by his father, seeks comfort in his relationship with his uncle and developed a fear of being in the closet. Unable to maintain a heterosexual relationship with his childhood playmate, as well as his self-forced-upon fantasy girlfriend whom he sees as the embodiment of his mother, (he always has to flee when confronted with the possible embrace with the opposite sex), he finds himself in the confines of the closet. He refuses to remain trapped and seeks his freedom and sees himself as the messiah of all the sexually abused children (souls/ghosts) that were never able to break away from the destructive nature of the repressed homosexual psyche. Finally, he confronts the monster in the closet and (I don't want to spoil it anymore). The miseenscene was sensational. The cinematography was very original employing new camera angles and CGI editing techniques that maintained the audience captivated and trembling at the edge of their seats. A must see! Enjoy! For those of you that didn't "get-it", give it another try, you won't be disappointed. By the way; no, I'm not gay.(Yes, there is something wrong with it!)

Interesting theory

Hilarious over explantion of an absolutely terrible film. There was more thought (however wrong) in your "Explanation" than was given in the entire piece of trash crap-fest.

I didn't get this at all from the movie, which is fine. But most people who've seen it obviously didn't get that message. I think this is more a case of finding what you want in a film and taking that intrepretation as truth, which is fine, as it is your view, your truth I guess you could say.

HAHAHAHAHA

Uh...

...No. Just. No.

Epic fail.

Although I did get a chuckle out of this "explanation" because it reminded me of the Southpark episode on Scientology in which Tom Cruise goes in the closet and is later joined by John Travolta and R. Kelley. LOL

Poppycock and hooey. You started with a guy fighting something "coming out of the closet" and built a theory *around* that merely pun-ish connection. But you get an A for effort. Very creative, especially for a self-outed homophobe. :/

I do not agree with your theory, though I must admit I find it quite intriguing: The star always leaves the women in his life and keeps returning to that damned closet!! I think it is merely coincidence, however. He is not gay.

It was just a bad movie with no real sense to it. If it had a better written script, there would be no need for people to come up with such convoluted explanations.

By the way:

1) I am not gay.
2) There is nothing at all wrong with homosexuality.

Only thing I can give this movie is good cinematography, it had a great visual style to it and editing. Good scares but the story was pretty empty... could have been great but is kinda under-par.

But I think you looked way way way to far into it. really this film is just a childhood fear that he never got over, I get creeped out by the dark and spiders terrify me... but its not from a repressed homosexual psyche.

im not gay (but there is nothing wrong with it)
