This show could be successful on HBO

Unlike Comedy Central, HBO would properly fund and promote the show. The comics would have the freedom to say whatever they want without having to look over their shoulder.

Tough Crowd was the funniest and edgiest show to ever air on a basic cable network. The people who say it sucked either A) don't understand smart comedy, B) only watched 1 episode and concluded their opinion of the show, C) Have a personal hate for Colin(go see him live, he's great), or D) were offended by Nick DiPaolo and flooded Comedy Central with complaints.

I don't really understand all the hate coming from this board either. It seems like a lot of people are happy the show got canceled, if you didn't like the show why the hell would you come post on the message board for it? I think it's just one of those things where you're blinded by hate. You hate one individual therefor you cannot be open to anything surrounding that person.

HBO needs to pick up Tough Crowd because it's better fit for their viewer demographic. Overall the average person tuning into comedy central doesn't have the attention span to wait for a punch line, instead they need simple comedy that requires you not to think like Drawn Together, Blue Collar comedy, and all the other garbage shows on Comedy Central.

I loved Tough Crowd, and always expected CC to eventually run back to Colin on their knees. Well, Colin's not a 12 year old boy so that's not going to happen. Not only do I hope somebody picks this show up, but I was wondering if a Tough Crowd DVD is available. I'm sure I missed some episodes and even the ones I saw would be funny to watch a second time.
And why was this show cancelled? The regulars are probably the funniest comics of this generation, and it almost seems like they are intentionally underexposed. The cancellation offended me so badly that it still annoys me. They won't even air the reruns when NOTHING ELSE IS ON. I'm curious as to Tough Crowd's ratings, I bet they were roughly equal to the Daily Show's even with the competition from the network late night drek.

Hoo hoo, tell um Fred

Thank God... Someone finally understands all of this. Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn was the funniest and edgiest show to ever air on basic cable. The rawness and honesty of it all was great. Comedy Central made a stupid choice on cancelling the show. Not to mention all the garbage they have on the air now. I'm not sure about other people, but Tough Crowd was a good escape from all the *beep* that happened during the day. A good relief. I'm sure lots of people have thought of the HBO thing, I know I have, and it would be perfect. The line that they could not cross on Comedy Central wouldn't exist, and the show could be very successful.

I still miss this show. I tuned in faithfully and was really ticked off when it was cancelled. Even bought a "Save Tough Crowd" t-shirt....

There was word of a few networks considering a pickup, and Spike TV seemed to be the leader of the pack of potential landing spots due to its male demographic, and the fact that TC's half-million daily viewers would have been great for that net (and it was also owned by Viacom). The show was let go because it wasn't holding much of the hugh lead-in from "The Daily Show," but at the point it was cancelled, there wasn't much on the network during primetime, and I think they made a mistake not trying to just stick it somewhere else to keep the loyal viewers happy. Since nothing panned out, can we at least get a few DVDs with the clip shows and a few hours of other highlights?

I love Colin and have seen him at the Cellar several times. He and his clan of regulars seemed just approachable enough to make the show fun, but also seemed like they'd been to hell and back trying to get to where they had in their careers. That, to me, was truly compelling television. Watching a bunch of underpaid people do what they love so much to do was oddly inspiring, which made it seem like a kick in the teeth when the show was cancelled. It's just two more hours that I don't spend watching Comedy Central each week.

The other poster that made the comment on the attention span of Comedy Central viewers has it right (IMHO). I had a sick feeling in my gut when the net was bought by MTV, and the content changes they've made have reflected their new ownership.

Time Warner hates conservative shows. The liberals want conservatives to shut up, stop voting, and watch "red neck" shows. They don't want them to have a voice - which is why you won't see Tough Crowd on CC or HBO or probably anywhere else...

Remember, they didn't even cancel this show...they just "dissapeared" it.

Really?
Why does it come down to politics?
If it's funny, it's funny.
I don't know where I stand politically, but I know funny, and TC is funny.
