Gabe Garcia Won't Win Due To The Fact...

...he's Hispanic. I just don't see the white masses voting for him.

Too bad since this guy is the real deal.

It would be great if what the judges keep spouting about - "talent, originality, stage presence, etc." were the only deciding factors in this contest, but they aren't. Whenever the vote is left up to viewers you have all kinds of things deciding the winner. Maybe that's appropriate since obviously this happens in most contests in life. I wouldn't say Gabe is original, but no one on the show has been. There's basically been good singers/performers, but they're all doing what's been done many times already. Based on singing I'd say it's between Gabe and Melissa, but since it's not the only deciding factor, who knows.

well many are saying too that Melissa won't win b/c she is "heavy". But I understand your point, but I DO think Gabe will win it. He can sing and I vote for him and I am white. I also vote for Melissa, she has got the pipes.
I just think these two have the better voice, no matter what background or size they are, its the talent that matters to me and both of these have got it.

Gabe has got character, great looks, charm, and a vocal range. All the things I look for in a country vocalist. He has MY vote!

They're both good singers, but you've got to accept that Melissa got a lot of votes from the core country fans who identify with her (white people with several kids). You can say something negative like a lot of rednecks don't like hispanic people, but a statement like that is more truthful than anything else. Yeah, I was pulling for Gabe, maybe because it would've been a change. Melissa can sing yes, but it sounds like anything else on country radio, nothing unique about it. Her real life story is also not unique. I'm not trying to bash her, she deserves it vocally.

Come on! I was rooting for both Gabe and Melissa, but when it came down to it, I went for Melissa. Why? Because Gabe sounds like every freaking male country singer out there. I was in the kitchen a couple of week ago and he was singing a Kenny Chesney song, I thought it was him... nope it was Gabe.

Honestly, I think his lack of height probably hurt him more than his heritage. He looked so tiny compared to Melissa or anyone else. This coming from a white Texan who has had issues with Latinos - his bloodlines didn't bother me one bit - his great singing won me over immediately. I mean, Coffey wouldn't have lasted as long as he did if he weren't so tall and hunky. I also think Gabe should have been counseled to choose repertoire that would have shown his excellent range a little better.

Gabe sounds like anybody else? I'll give you that, but so does Melissa. There are lots of women that can sing like her or better and have 9 to 5s.
