Big lynch fan, but dont believe its worth it

its just 6 short films that can probably be easily downloaded, and thats it....FOR 40 DOLLARS
they make it look good though with it coming in a big pointless box, so you think theres somehting else special and worth while, but all there is, is this tiny disc, and a booklet, which has nothing but screen shots from each film.
the films are fantastic none the less though, but 40 dollars?!?!?!

does anybody know why erasurehead and the shortfilms are priced so high? you can buy his full lengh films for like 11.99 anywhere, is the pointless cardboard box decoration it comes in worth 30 dollars or something?

You could simply rent it on Netflix and burn the films onto a DVD or make an image so you can watch them on your computer... and it'll cost exactly no money at all.

or you could actually show some respect toward the filmmakers by actually purchasing their work.

Yes, you COULD download practically any film on some network if you just look hard enough. That's not the point. No matter how much you try to convince yourself otherwise: you're being a cheap, pathetic, and shameless THIEF by downloading films that are readily available to be purchased.

yes and you could condem celebrities to a life of semi-luxery not saying david lynch is a big celebrity.
you know

Well, that's "nice". I have the greatest respect for the artists, but very little of the money you spend on a DVD is going to end up in their hands. Most of it is going to some people who already have a LOT of money and do nothing artistic at all.

On the other hand, DVDs are ridiculously expensive. Don't get me wrong, I have about 120 legally bought DVDs, but I also rent and burn to DVD-R many others, because the price on DVDs is outrageous and an offense to those who enjoy cinema and watching films at home. Art shouldn't be an exclusive right of rich people. It should be for everyone.

DVD prices are the main reason that piracy and illegal downloading exists, and we all know that very well. Some people try to reverse that statement and say piracy causes high pricing. Let's not fool ourselves. Piracy and illegal downloading are a result, not a cause.

If an ARTIST is only in it to make money, then they are not an artist at all. Do you think going to a library is ripping off an artist?

Or they could not charge nearly $100.00 for 13 anime episodes that seems pretty shameless to me

Or you could do what I do: buy the DVD, watch it, use HandBrake or something to save it as a video file, then sell it on eBay. It's win-win. You get the movie (or short films) at full quality, rather than pirated quality, you get to pat yourself on the back for supporting the artist (and Lynch is definitely an artist worth supporting), then you sell it used. Generally speaking, you can get at least half what you paid at retail cost. So you get everything at half price or less, and the only difference is that you don't have the actual physical DVD collecting dust on a shelf.

agreed.

the first edition of this would not have been mass produced on a par with his feature films, it's for die hard fans only, the less copies they make, the more they have to charge to break even. obviously the first run sold out, so they deemed it worthwhile to produce another run, and cheaper this time. stop whinging.

I got Eraserhead for $10 at my local music trade store. Then I got TSFoDL for another $10 at the same place. $20 for the set is a steal.

Jesus Lol'd.
