Bad audio mixing

I tried watching the DVD on several non-surround audio players, and I discovered a problem with all of them. Apparently, whoever engineered the movie to play on down-mixed audio (it was produced with a 5.1 Surround soundtrack) did a pretty bad job. I can tell because on a surround sound speaker set, it sounds really good. When played on two speakers, it does not sound as good. The music is louder and often drowns out the sound effects (and sometimes the voices). If you have a 5.1 speaker set hooked up to a DVD player and you own this DVD, try playing the movie with listening to it. You'll see that you missed out on hearing a lot of neat sound effects. The voices also sounded a bit tinny on the down-mixed version.

Anyone notice this?
