Except that Mr. Smith was keeping his true, lethal occupation from his wife, I didn't find the movies all that similar. The fact that Mrs. Smith was herself leading a secret life involving guns and killing was a major difference. I also don't recall Arnold and his wife trying to kill each other for most of the movie and then getting hunted down and almost killed by Arnold's employer. This "I liked it better when it was called . . . " seems to be a cliche on IMDB message boards and often involve two movies that are only superficially similar to each other, if at all. I guess the posters want to sem clever.

Near the end of True Lies, Arnold and his wife were both secret agents working together.

It is not much of a stretch to link the two films as being similar.

You are at the lowest level of caring.

While both movies are about someone having a career the other one knows nothing about it is not exactly the same. Only the hubby had the spy career in True Lies. Also in TL they weren't told to kill each other.

I liked TL much better-it was much more humorous.

I found M&MS totally unbelievable-that they would be able to keep such a secret from each other for "5 or 6" years.

Everyone likes to make their clever "I liked this movie when it was called..." topic. Seems like every other message board on IMBd has one.
