How many existential movies are there in this century?

According to google, only 4:

And, in my book, huckabees is the best one! :D

Although I still have to watch birdman, while enjoying it as much as this, at least 5 times to be able to fairly compare. Just watched it yesterday for first time and I think it's way too poetic. Waking life is way too much dialogs. Synecdoche I still have to watch but it's probably way too NY. :P

It's hard to say what counts as an "existential movie", which is probably why Google only offered you 4 films and then gave up.

I would say that the following prominently feature characters who are trying to find meaning in a world that seems meaningless:

The Man Who Wasn't There (2001)
Broken Flowers (2005)
Pan's Labyrinth (2006)
The Fountain (2006)
No Country for Old Men (2007)
You, The Living (2007)
A Serious Man (2009)
Meek's Cutoff (2010)
Certified Copy (2011)
Melancholia (2011)
Seeking a Friend for the End of the World (2012)
The Master (2012)
It's Such a Beautiful Day (2012)
Calvary (2014)
The Rover (2014)
Boyhood (2014)
A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence (2014)

If you broadened the definition of an "existential movie" even further so that it included all films that deal with the troubles of existence, the list would be huge.

thanks!

yeah, even Matrix or Stranger than Fiction could be counted in with that broader definition.

I guess "prominently featuring characters trying to find meaning in life" can bring a nice parallels to hucks and birdie. that sounds like a very interesting list, filled with new titles to me. :)
