Remarkable

What a gem of a movie, incredibly written and directed; the actors carried and held me long after the credits. The multimillion dollar Hollywood blockbusters can't touch this, nor can many others.

It was VERY well acted but kinda depressing. Once was enough. Grade: C+.

reply

That's really rude - giving it a C+ because YOU can't handle reality.
The movie wasn't just well "acted", it was well-written, well-produced and well-directed and told the (accurate) story of what happened in Buenos Aires during this economic upheaval. Perhaps you should do some research and you'd find out why it was "kinda" depressing (sheesh!). This film deserves at least a B+ rating, nothing less.

logan03, YOU HAVE BEEN REPORTED.

And? what's your point?
You seem to have serious childish issues of your own.
I personally feel that can't seem to make valid adult arguments about a classic film like this. Your "review" was an insult to this intelligent film, which you obviously could not grasp. This was an adult film you seem to have been unable to comprehend and you're probably an immature minor, at least your original comment came across as such.

I get the feeling you thought this was probably a sequel to the Jennifer Lopez film where she played a maid and you also wanted a happy ending. Did you not understand the plot? How else do you explain someone who watches a film about a woman teetering on the edge of homelessness, a maid who has lost her job and is also on the edge of homelessness and neither has the prospect of ever finding a decent job again and then has the audacity (stupidity?) to say the film was "kinda depressing". ROTFLOL

The wonderful thing about IMDB is that it allows differences of opinion and I can disagree with someone's insensitive posting and I think IMDB will hold that in account by seeing I've done many valid postings over the years.

You need to grow up and take criticisms for making insipid comments about an intelligent film.

This was a fantastic film and I enjoyed it tremendously.
In case anyone hasn't noticed, there is another (incomplete)listing here on IMDB for a "Live-In Maid",dated 2009, a likely work in progress. Let's hope it will be an English re-make with a brilliant cast and sticking as closely as possible to the original script.
However, knowing how some Hollywood minds work, I shudder to think that some bozo is thinking of doing a remake, but instead making it a comedy, perhaps a TV sitcom. It wouldn't be the first time this has happened.

I did a random search on her name (heynow) and the first posting I came up with shows her doing an unprovoked attack on another member and calling him a troglodyte. I wonder if heywnow reported herself? I seriously doubt it.
So, along with her valley girl shallow mentality, she's also a hypocrite!

reply

lol heynow called me a troglodyte on another board

reply

I wasn't paying attention to the name when I first looked at that posting by heynow, but yes it was you, wasn't it. I suppose if I did more random searches on heynow's name I'd find even more insulting remarks, but I already made my point. LOL

reply

LOL hahaha thats such a weird coincidence.

First of all I thought Live-In-Maid was truly a little gem,it was very affecting,at times it was sad,but it did have a sort of happy ending.I just have to say eveyone is entitled to there opinion, but you have a really silly "I am telling mom" attitude. Heynow you are strange and I agree with logan completely

This was a very well acted movie, by both the women. Amazing that Norma Argentina had not been in a previous movie. A very good movie showing the impact on some well to do Argentines at the time of the monetary crisis. They do not really explain though why Beba has no money. Her slow descent into acceptance of her situation was excellently played.

reply

They did not explain? What were you watching? She was divorced and her ex (whom she was putting the bite on regularly) was losing his business. He kept her going probably because of guilt and he still loves her, but now there was nothing to give her.
