A must for all insomniacs!

This film i believe in my own humble opinion had no redeeming features to it whatsoever, acting ok, but for the characters i did'nt care tuppence.

This movie is absolutely AWFUL. I honestly came here to trash this film as the pathetic, boring, poorly directed, poorly cast piece of crap that it is, but found little on the IMDB boards precisely doing so. Except the gentleman here who started this thread.

I couldn't have cared less for any single character in this movie because I never got to meet them. And sorry, Harvey Keitel's and Robert De Niro's New York City accents in 17th Century Peru made me laugh my ass off. Pathetic!!

Avoid this movie. Two thumbs down on this one.

I really wanted to love this movie. The book is wonderful, the historical setting is fascinating, and I admire all of the main actors. But it was a complete mess. I got it on DVD and found myself wanting to go do laundry and mop floors - things I never do if I can avoid them - rather than keep watching this movie.

The costumes were a problem, and Byrne with Harpo Marx' hair was more than I could endure. Kathy Bates was fabulous, as was Keitel, and I liked the scenery, but none of that was good enough to overcome an overwrought, confusing mess.

So disappointing.

Really? I thought they did a pretty good job of hiding their accents, especially Keitel. Did you see him as Judas in The Last Temptation of Christ? What a riot. Jesus and Judas were both from NY, not the Middle East.
