Marc Brown Discusses 'Arthur's Missing Pal'

...In addition to his ongoing book and TV projects, Brown continues to champion issues of literacy and free speech around the world, and has traveled to the Moscow Book Festival with First Lady Laura Bush. And he has recently ventured onto new creative turf. To create the art for Arthur’s Missing Pal, a direct-to-video movie from Lions Gate Entertainment, Brown worked in computer-generated animation for the first time. “I had some initial reservations about working in this medium,” he says, “since for the TV shows I design the art in two dimensions, and now I had to completely redesign it in three dimensions. I was very excited by the process, but I kept wondering if kids would accept that these are actually the same characters in their same world. It worked—at least in my opinion.”

OK, I just saw this on our local PBS station and thought I'd gone blind/nuts/crazy. I couldn't stand the change to CGI. Give me the "old" Arthur version any day.
