I looked around online a little bit for some info on this ACS short, which I've never heard of outside of IMDB, and I can only find very brief references to it in interviews with the director. There is also a brief story at http://www.nineinchnails.net/news/nov00/113000-08.html that suggests that the video does not exist at all--there is no info from the SF film fest on it. Maybe the director is confused? I know Merhige directed a video for Cryptorchid, which is on Manson's new "Lest We Forget" DVD compilation and has stock footage from "Begotten"--has somebody somehow confused that with an ACS video? There are a few dozen votes for this on IMDB, but has anyone actually seen it, does it exist? I am doubtful...
All I know about this video is that Zim Zum - I'm presuming you're aware of him and who he is - has said that they did make a video for Antichrist Superstar.
Whether or not it is THIS Merhige one... I don't know.
I am the producer, and I assure you this video DOES exist. It even played on MTV a few times. To my knowlege it has never been made available to the public. But it is great.
Okay, if it DID play on MTV a FEW times, then I'm sure many many people would have made a video recording of it and it would be available for torrent somewhere from at least ONE person. Back in the Antichrist Superstar days I taped EVERY snippet of MM that I ever saw on tv, thus I'm presuming a lot of other MM fans did too.
So, I'm not saying it doesn't exist - it probably does. The NIN 'Broken' short film is also pretty hard to come across (or it may not be these days, I haven't looked in a while), but I'm pretty sure Antichrist Superstar didn't play on MTV and I'm pretty sure you're NOT the producer. I'll happily be proven wrong if you can do so.
I don't believe that this video, in the case that it exists, was ever on MTV. Like someone else who posted here, I'm sure that if it had been, it would have been on more than once, and SOMEONE would have seen it. Plus if it's a great video, why can't Interscope put it out? My guess is that IMDb is referring to the Cryptorchid video because it's not listed in Merhige's filmography. If you look at David Lynch's filmography, his video for Rammstein is listed.
MTV? Get outta here! This is not even a music video - it seems to be more of a short film. Just because MTV doesn't show NIN's "Broken" movie doesn't mean that it doesn't exist, does it?
According to some user at the message board at Mansonusa.com, there is a synopsis somewhere in a thread of that forum, indicating that someone have seen it. However, I haven't got a user account there, making me unable to use the search-function. And with hundreds and hundreds of threads saying "OMG Manson is going FAT!!!", it's not particulary funny browing your way through the forum!
As for the comment about "Broken", I was only really referring to the fact that while this may exist, it would never be broadcast at MTV. Again, it's not a music video, but a short film. A live video for the song was released on the "Dead To The World" videotape and is also available at Launch.com.
Obviously. Either way, while I don't know if this is out there, I hope it and would very much like to see it. While there is absolutely no proof that it exists, the fact that it hasn't been shown on MTV is not enough to determine that it doesn't.
in a recent interview with www.mansonusa.com Marilyn Manson himself talks about the video/short film. He said the director used alot of stock footage he already shot and stuff from old war new clips and the like really going on the "fascist" vibe. The short was never finished according to Manson. However, as to the confusion with the cryptor child video, the same guy did direct that video as well.
take it easy bro. actually for a little while i thought it was cryptorchild as well but after really gettin into the album i realized i was mistaken. oh ya and i think i had one of those^^^ haha
This is acually the reference to the photography for the insert for the Marylin Mansion CD title Antichrist Superstar. If you look you can find E. Elias Merhige as part of the photography credits. He my have directed some music videos for this album or others but I am not aware of any he has done.
Alright, this is not adding up,.. the supposed producer of this supposed film claims it was shown on MTV. This makes no sense. In 1996/97 ANYTHING Manson did was televised. MTV had several specials during that period which either included an appearance by Manson (i.e Howard Sterns Private Party) or were focused on Manson entirely (Head bangers ball special) The fact that a short movie based on one of the best selling albums of 1996/97 was on MTV and no one has even seen it or, posted footage from it on youtube causes me to believe that this has never seen the light of day and may not exist at all. However, the latest row between Manson and Reznor seems to be focused around the master tapes for ACSS being M.I.A. From what I hear, (and correct me if I am wrong here,..) Manson is accusing Reznor of not losing the masters, but refusing to hand them over to Manson for a remastering for a tenth anniversary package which would have been released back in the fall. Perhaps there would have been a bonus DVD with the ACSS movie on it? Its really hard to tell. But what isn't hard to figure out is that Sigmund 7 is more than likely bluffing. I hate to say it dude, but you have offered no proof to your claims that you were in fact the producer in this film venture, and knowing how Nothing records worked, either the Rez or Manson or even both produced this film. Either way, until I see proof, I am calling your bluff Sigmund 7!
If it does, which I think it's true (what's the point of making it up on imdb?) it would be nice to have a description of it. It's sad that the video wasn't ditributed, and hopefully it will be available one day...In the meantime some screenshots would be nice or even making it available on U tube or something.
Anyone want to sign a petition to Interscope demanding that they release the video??? If it was ever shown on MTV it must have been at 2AM or 3AM in the morning because we certainly didn't catch it before that time...
I suppose this revers to the video of Cryptorchid. Wikipedia quote: "Music video "Cryptorchid", single for Antichrist Superstar by Marilyn Manson, was directed by E. Elias Merhige and includes footage from Begotten." It can be watched op youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLk5xaX9K1Q)
