What exactly is the difference between a Dark Jedi and a Sith?

Essentially, Dark Jedi are just those who've fallen, whereas Sith are followers of a specific path. It's kinda like differences in religion I suppose.

Sith can be Dark Jedi, but Dark Jedi aren't always Sith.

The term Sith in KOTOR can mean at least 4 different things depending on the context used. I know how it can be confusing.
