Sandral-Matele Feud (minor spoilers)

So I've gotten to the last part of the feud mission. Im trying to get the parents to see reason and let the kids stay together, but my persuade attempts keep failing. Im playing a soldier and jedi guardian. My persuade level is currently 5 with a bonus of 3 from my empathy skill.

Should I abandon it until later when my persuade is higher or can it be done at this stage?
