Before you watch this film...

Before you watch this film, read a few of the real Grimm's Fairy Tales. I think if you're not familiar with them this film will be a little hard to follow as the entire film is based on a handful of these tales. If you are familiar with them you'll get a great kick out of recognizing the different characters from these very old, and sometimes very twisted, German stories.

A quick warning for those that have not read Grimm's Fairy Tales. Some are fairly innocent, but others are quite disturbing.

I really enjoyed this film but I'm a little disappointed at how tame the scenes were. I read many of the Grimm's Fairy Tales when I was a kid and the film seemed to go easy on some of the more gruesome aspects of these stories. Still, it was an enjoyable film. I'm surprised it didn't get better reviews.
