and it just really didn't interest me at all - I switched the TV over to soemthing else after nearly 30 mins in. The slapstick humour fell flat and the story was just non engaging.

No. Watching this movie is like being lost in the woods at night. You just want to curl up in a ball and cry.
shareThe last hour or so is awesome. But most probably won't stick around to see it. Everything begins to click when it gets to the enchanted forest story line. Probably because the focus of the movie turns to the mystery of the surrounding the missing girls. A lot of action and incidental stuff that makes the story pretty compelling and good.

Personally i was surprised at how much i enjoyed it. I do like a lot of Gilliam films so maybe that swung it more for me i don't know, i just thought it was just dark enough and just enough humour in it. Peter Stormare was brilliant in it to, very funny when his wig fell off! I wasn't expecting that.
I just think when you compare it to drivel like chronicles of Narnia or dungeons and dragons its a great film.
