Did Heath and Matt... Ruin this movie...

I think so, they're both totally annoying, unconvincing and unlikable. Nothing they do is endearing, amusing or remotely likable. Peter Stormare was by far the best actor/character here....... I feel sorry for Terry Gilliam, the big studios screw him every time. I should add, I'm not being crassly mean spirited. I liked Matt Dammon in the Bourne movies and Heath Ledger might have had a great career ahead of him, but they're both a bit Brad Pitt, if you know what I mean......

Agreed, certainly Matt Damon did. He is simple one trick pony. If you actually pay attention to his acting, you'll soon notice that he shows the exact same facial expressions in all his movies, just as bad as Keanu Reeves, but Keanu is even worse than Matt.

How can Matt be "as bad" as Keanu, but Keanu, at the same time, "be worse" than Matt?

reply

Well said, I think Matt has to be one of the most overrated people in Hollywood today!
At least majority of people agree that Ben more or less sucks as an actor, but in my opinion this guy certainly isnt much better!
He`s got that one facial expression that is annoying as hell (tone of his voice isnt better, its the same regardless emotion), Keanu is perfect example of exactly that!

Why he is being used everywhere while some awesome actors have to wait months and months for a chance is beyond me, glad I am not the only one :)

Ahhh good ol' IMDB. Where peons come to complain about people that are more successful than they are; for no legitimate reason, other than the fact that they can't accept that they will always be a nobody.

What's worse, they can't carry their saltiness in silence. So they come here hoping that other nobodies like themselves will reinforce their bitter-disguised jealousy.

reply

What do you mean 'same facial expression'? It's not like he is Kristen Stewart.

Heath was just getting started. I believe he wanted to be anything BUT Brad Pitt; y'know, I don't think he took roles and posed and looked pretty. And I hope you meant they were annoying, unconvincing and unlikable in only this movie, or maybe you just haven't seen The Dark Knight yet.

If you have ... Don't go to the TDK forums.

LOLWHUT.

I think they were fine, the french were the most annoying.

reply

It was already bad, not much left for them to ruin.

reply

I thought that their characters and the other supporting characters are what made the film so good. The storyline wasn't too strong, in my opinion that is.

or Brokeback

suzycreamcheese RIP Heath Ledger 1979-2008

now.. who else could've played brad's part in 12 monkeys?.. :)
i think ledger was very well cast, actually.. damon has been a better choice in other things, but he wasn't bad. i think the two of them together were a weird match tho..
also.. the thing that was the most confusing was the name/age switching of the brothers (i read something about them switching parts somewhere along the way).. why was that, i wonder? jacob was the eldest, most dominant figure and wilhelm was the younger, weaker, more sensitive one.. it would've been interesting to see ledger play the older jacob and damon play the younger wilhelm..

This was actually one of my favorite Heath Ledger performances. It completely surprised me. He pulled off the timid, bumbling insecure younger brother so well. He made me laugh.

I don't like Matt Damon. But, I thought he was excellent in this. Heath Ledger has was good in every film I saw him in and always likable. So, no I don't think they ruined the movie, they made it fun to watch even though it was dark and hopeless.

If you love Cheezit's 100% copy this and make it your signature.

I thought Damon a distraction, but not enough to ruin the movie. Ledger was great as usual. An entertaining ride by Gilliam, certainly not among his best, but still better than 95% of the stuff put out today.

reply

i thought they both worked well together.
You were supposed to hate Matts at the beginning of the film, him being the "hot" brother and Heath being the "geek." but towards the end you realised they do love each other as brothers.

reply

They're both really decent actors, but at first I didn't like Matt Damon's preformance, but later on, the two's acting actually suited the movie. They reminded me of Tulio (Will) and Miguel(Jake) in the movie Road to El Dorado

Damon is uncharismatic and has all the acting chops of a block of wood.

Ledger made a really bad creative decision with that stutter and voice...and it all went downhill from there.

I think manythings meant the movie not his career bayden. I can't give my opinion on the movie however for I have not seen it, I want to though.

reply

It looked like Heath was trying hard not to laugh while making the movie.

reply

I disagree. Monica Belucci completely ruined the movie because she is a horrible "actress" who probably only got the job based on her looks.

The movie would have improved without her, I just couldn't buy her acting, it made the movie annoying for me.
