Birkenau means Brzezinka

Oryginal name of the village is Brzezinka, and it means "Birch tree grove" or "Little birch tree wood" (I hope it's exact). During the Second World War when Poland was under German Occupation, and when they set there death camp, they called this in German of course. Brzezinka is near the old Polish town Oswiecim, called Auschwitz by Germans.
