Juanita

She'a a luscious beauty of a woman. A college student whose sweet naivety gave this movie its heart and soul. ANd then for know better reason than because she made him feel momentarily weak, King DAvid destroyed her in a sick and twisted form of revenge. I didn't qite see the last scnene she was in so I don't know what happened to her in the end. Can anyone tell me?

Spoiler

David gave her the battery acid, and she died. The book actually goes through Juanita death with great detail but the movie just shows her lying dead on the ground O.Ded.

How did she die in the book?

$$SPOILERS$$
..."sweet naivety". Juanita was a level-headed smart girl (in college) on her way. Then she bumped into David. What does she say when he offers to take her away from all the hussle and bustle on a quarter of a million??? Her conclusions are thoughtful and practical; a nice house in the 'burbs takes money AND upkeep, plus all the other perks like clothes and vehicles, medical insurance--and David didn't have that just then!!!(LOL) She told him upfront. BIG MISTAKE! Her conversation suggests that she would consider his offer if his business was more large scale. In addition, Juanita was not as strong and self assured as she thought, "she bit the apple."

None of the characters have ANY redeeming values here. Even the innocent ones have the appearance of impropriety.

It's just a very dark movie exploring very dark impulses.

Nothing naive about Juanita, she was a user: of drugs and people. The girl was just into his cash, having sex with him and access to his coke. She even said so and virtually scoffed in his face.

As for the moment of weakness, he claimed it was from "love", though it's clear David doesn't know what real love is... You're right about his revenge, definitely sick and twisted but that's the sum total of his behaviour (along with other characters) in this film.

Well, then I'm glad David died. Karma is crazy, ain't it ...
