This movie was just amazing. Got questions............
1.) How did the father lose his arm? explosion?
2.) What was the rioting all about in the factory for them to beat the crap out of the ex-girlfriend.
3.) What was the mom's illness, she was foaming at the mouth at the factory it seems. I may be wrong. They mentioned something about poison I think.

2. they where in prison, not a factory. and it doesnt say what the riots where about (but we know the guy killed his wardon while in prison)
3. the aliens poisened his mum to put her in a coma. the doctors dont know how to cure the unknown illness.
i don't read books, they ruin the movie for me
Your number 2 is wrong. That was not a prison. That was a worker's riot where the girlfriend got killed (by thugs hired by the company). I only know this because of the wikipedia article on the movie that I read a few minutes ago. I watched the movie and it wasn't too clear.
It wouldn't really make sense that some guy beat up a woman in prison with a metal pipe...
I would say that it was a communist workers riot (i remember seeing red flags) which would explain why they were so rough beating the riot down. You know a little about korean history, I hope.
shareI seriously doubt it was a communist workers riot...a lot of Korean labor unions in the eighties used red flags during their strikes and demonstrations, and no one would dare aspire to any communist activities during that period. I think it was just another laborers' protest, there were many of them during the eighties before labor unions' rights were fully established.
shareI sure don't know much about Korean history. Thanks public school. I had to learn about the civil/revolutionary wars 5 times in school but god forbid I learn about anything that took place in another country :(
