Comedy ??!!!

Really now - what bloody moron inserted "comedy" as part of this movie's "genres" ??

reply

What, are you crazy? This movie is totally part comedy! Heck, I usually start with comedy when describing it.

reply

Oh, it has alot of funny elements - but it's waaaay more Noir than just simple comedy...

reply

in my opinion should have been a comedy all the way though. I know ima getta lota flack for this but i dont bye the emotional aspects of it. Jus dont work for me.

Also plz dont compare this to oldboy because of the apparent violence.

reply

Nah, everybody has the right to it's own opinion.

And the movie coulda worked even as a simple comedy.
I still think it's brilliant as it is now, but that's my opinion.

reply

wait wait wait... did you just call this a noir film?

reply

No, i said it would be better described as a black comedy, rather than simple "comedy".

"Noir" means "black", just the language is different.

There were a few parts that I chuckled at (the bee scene) but in all truth I was mostly disturbed, saddened when watching the film. I too find it odd that it is considered a comedy even a dark one.

reply

The Director called it one, yell at him

I know you're being stupid on purpose, but i'm bored so i'll dignify you with an answer:
I've already said that the movie has funny elements. It's just that not everything that has funny bits is a comedy, and not everything that is called a comedy actually is funny (see your favourite movie, the hangover).

It's a genre blender, comedy, crime, drama, torture porn, sci-fi.

You really can't categorize it as one genre, it's a complete ride through multiple genres and what I loved about it. At it's core though, I consider it a tragic drama.
