Worst Film Ever

Even though I'm French, I still consider these sort of films to be absolute rubbish. One victory over a mediocre European side is nothing to get excited about. Maybe if the US had won the World Cup that year then of course, but this was an insignificant victory. Infact, you never even qualified from the group stages

What next??? A movie on how Senegal beat France or how Northern Ireland beat Spain.

Funny...

If America is so superior, why haven't they been able to remove the Communists from Cuba and Venezuela or provide peace in the Middle East between your best buddies Isreal and their enemies the Palestinians??? I rest my case...

I think I have never read a more uneducated, subjectively + short-sighted post.

ALL want to move to the USA? I do not know anyone who wants to live there. And I know a lot of ppl. The most do not even plan to do a vacation there, ever.

The French did nothing important? Only as an example for the importance to even your country's past:
ever heard from Marie-Joseph Motier = Marquis de La Fayette and how important he was for your independence? Not to forget how important he was for the French revolution..... => they never won a war? Have you any idea, who Napoloen was?

And the rest is simple to stupid to give even a respond.

And btw I am neither French nor a friend of the French culture nor a native English or French speaking person.

I don't want to enter into your all's argument putting nations down, I like all of them, I like all teams as well as they play clean and fair.

I've always liked the France soccer team, Les Bleus but that was horrible what Henry did with the handball vs. Ireland.

We've got tons of people here from all over, including France, my friend from Tunisia who went to live in France and then came to the US, lots of Africans, lots of Asians, Hmong, etc. I don't ridicule other countries... generally....

I haven't see this film but I will in the next week.

By the way, I don't know if this is a Disney movie like Miracle on ice.

I wrote elsewhere, there are a lot of upsets in soccer, and a movie called "The game of their lives" about North Korea in 1966.

And as a matter of fact, Senegal defeating France in '02 and Cameroon defeating Argentina in 1990, both of these games against reigning World Champions I do consider as of great of upsets as any others in the World Cup itself. You bet I do, especially since I don't think we've seen Senegal in other world cups and Cameroon's big win was one of the first big wins for a Subsaharan African country. Algeria defeated Germany in 1982, that's another big one actually and later in the tournament, W. Germany and Austria drew and it eliminated Algeria and many thought that their was collusion between West Germany and Austria. I'd worry more about all the cheating that has happened in the World Cup. There are probably other big upsets I don't know about.

I am amazed at how ignorant some Americans are about how they gained independence.
That the French fought for and won it on their behalf.

reply

It's even worse....most Americans are happy to be ignorant, and prefer to be stupid. If you try to educate them, they act as though you peed in their Rice Krispies.

reply

I'm American and disagree with any comments of some blowhards putting France or any other nation down.

But I think those kinds are everywhere unfortunately.

We all should just talk about soccer/football here.

There is a film on North Korea's 1966 team called "The game of their lives" as well and I will see it in the next week or so.

The England side of 1950 were not 'mediocre' as the original poster puts it. It contained many of the legends of post war English football such as Tom Finney, Stanley Matthews, Billy Wright, Stan Mortensen, Wilf Mannion & future World Cup winning manager Alf Ramsey.
If the original poster wants to talk about a truly mediocre, no, a DIRE side, the disgraceful French squad of World Cup 2010 have no equal.
The 1950 England team may have been overrated and underachieved, but at least they tried.

Walter Bahr himself said the movie wasn't very good.
