For those who speak italian..

I love the Paolo Conte song (sparring partner), but i don't speak a word italian..

is there someone who can give me an accurate translation?

That would be brilliant!

Here's the lyric:

un macaco senza storia,

dice lei di lui,

che gli manca la memoria

infondo ai guanti bui

ma il suo sguardo una veranda,

tempo al tempo e lo vedrai,

che si addentra nella giungla,

no, non incontrarlo mai

Ho guardato in fondo al gioco

tutto qui? ma - sai -

sono un vecchio sparring partner

e non ho visto mai

una calma pi tigrata,

pi segreta di cos,

prendi il primo pullmann, via

tutto il reso gi poesia

Avr pi di quarantanni

e certi applausi ormai

son dovuti per amore,

non incontrarlo mai

stava l nel suo sorriso

a guardar passare i tram,

vecchia pista da elefanti

stesa sopra al macadm

THX!!!

try google translator www.google.com/language_tools but check your spelling. i put the first paragraph through and it came up with references to oxen and verandas which i'm assuming is incorrect.

i enjoyed the Conte track but much preferred the 2 songs from Luigi Tenco.

A "macacque" without a past,

She says of him,

A man lacking memories.

Deep in the darkest of nights,

his look is a "veranda"

from time to time you'll see,

that it's deep within a jungle.

No, you'll never ever meet it.

I studied the game closely

"It's all here?" But - you know -

I am an old sparring partner

and I have never seen

a calm more fierce,

or more secret.

Take the first bus, and you're away.

and the rest is poetry.

He must be older than forty

and by now much loved.

He's owed love

but never to meet it.

It was in his smile

watching the passing streetcars

on the old elephant trail

above hangs the macadamia tree.

I think this song contributes to so much of the film. It seriously stood out ot me as it appears it did for others. Gorgeous song.
