The ending-spoiler

At the very end we are told that three people die in the accident. We know who one is,I wonder if the other two are on the flight deck, I would think that those two would be the most vulnerable.
I was thinking about this because the woman who is planning the Hen night party says that she is marrying a "Fresh" pilot I was hoping that she would say that it was Marco, thus coming full circle in a way.Or could the pilot be that Dirty rotten scoundrel that we all love to hate.

I actually signed on to IMDB to ask this very question in another way.

Does Lorna die? As the series progressed, Lorna became my second favorite character after Janis. In the end, when we hear Janis recount what happened, we are told that Lehann died that day with two others. We are also told that Nigel was fine. However, the only other person on that flight that viewers care about (assuming there are no Jackie Randall fans out there) - Lorna - well, we are never told of her fate.
I agree with previous poster that Lorna is in the most vulnerable position where she is sitting. We are shown her crying right before the cut away. Should the viewer assume she is dead?
Can any British posters tell me if there is was/debate about the death of Lorna on the other side of the pond.
I loved the way that Janis and Will ended up together. Poppy is given a happy ending with Ed, while Leighann is denied hers with Dan but the one couple that the viewers really saw develop and the one couple we were rooting for - Lorna and Nigel - well, there fate is left up in the air (pun intended) unless we are to assume that Janis' Nigel is fine like he is always is could be a reference to "Nigel was fine after the death of Lorna because ultimately he was just a womanizer." All in all, I felt like the ending was pretty conservating, bottling up all the transgressive energy that had transpired for 38 previous episodes, and even punishing many characters for their promiscuity.
However, the fact that Janis gets her dream shop on the beach makes it still satisfying. I wish they had shown her selling the ruby bracelet that she sold out RAchel for. Oh to be Will... and end up with Janis (sigh).

I have to admit that lorna grew on me -eventually. She did look like a man in drag. I mean, how dare she try to change Nigel. I want my nigel the way he is,Thank you very much.
There is one curious thing, though. Why did Lehann fight so hard to save Nigel. She had no stake in his life. I think that maybe lorna's love for him made her love Dan and Nigel More. Actually, I think that Nigel and Janis in some way should have wound up together. They were two wounded porcupines afraid to love.

Actually, Lorna did not die. If you watch the beginning of the finale carefully, you will see that Lorna starts everything off in a way. The girls who are planning the hens night mention all the airline references on the menu, prompting Janis to say that she used to work at an airline,Fresh. As the conversation progresses, the girls say that they work for Fresh and the bride to be mentions that her fiance is a Fresh pilot (whom I was half expecting to be Nigel!) The girls then ask if Janis knows Lorna Newbold, saying she is the Senior Purser.

Lehann and Janis see Lorna dragging Nigels limp body from the cockpit and look at each other. Janis starts to rise and tells Lehann to "come on". They perform CPR and Janis realises the plane is going too fast and tells Lehann to sit down. She keeps going and does not appear to want to stop, goodness only knows why. I guess she was in a forgiving mood after talking to Dan.

Someone said Janis and Will got together. I think when she said he's my partner, she meant business partner only. He also owned the hairdresser shop in the town.

Janis would not have got back together with Nigel. It would not have fit in with the story line. Look at the way she treated him when he asked her to marry him, just after he got her fired. She was well and truly over him and had been ever since.

Janis also would not have needed to sell the bracelet she got from Rachel. Remember that she was the one to check the toilet ceiling for the money they stole from the mail run and she carried it off in her uniform without letting the others know she had found it. If Lorna found 250k and donated it to the Convent, that left 200k for Janis - a nice amount to start a business with.

Cyndiis,

Thanks. I must have missed the beginning when the hen night girls say Lorna is senior purser but that makes me feel better.
The reason Lorna looked like she was in drag in the beginning was that they really tarted her up, but as Nigel grew to love her, they would show her with less make-up and this angelic lighting that showed how beautiful the actress really was.
A lot of people complained about the ending, but I like it and felt it more sucessful than most series endings. I realize Janis and Will are just business partners, but they are still together in a way that makes sense to me, in the way that the earlier poster called Janis a "wounded porcupine". When I write that they ended together, I mean it in a golden-girl-ish sort of way, as companions. Janis deserved to be happy, and I think in the end, she will be happier with Will than she would have been with Nigel, because she'll expect less from him.
As for Rachel's bracelet, that was the one moment in the structuring of Janis' character that I hated. Janis was always the kind of bitch you loved. She was very human and you could see it from her side even when she was being intolerable, but when she took Rachel's bracelet and then reported her, well that seemed especially low. I wonder if we were supposed to dislike Rachel so much that the viewers were supposed to see it as funny when Janis did this.
Thanks again for letting me know Lorna is alive and filliing Janis' shoes somewhere.

I think the ending was great, Although I loved Lehann, it did come as a huge shock to me, I hated that Lehann died, leaving Dan's life destoryed moments before the show ended, the two of them were so close to having a happy ending and it seems kind of futile to kill off such a beloved character who was there from the very beginning, in fact, it was stupid. Sure, Lehann's death completely shocked me which was cool, but I think it was just completely stupid to kill her off for no reason. It would have been alot different if she died earlier in the season and the characters could experience that, not just "Oh yeah Lehann died and Dan became an alcoholic and no one heard of him ever again" pfft. For two characters we knew and loved to just have horrible tragedy's for endings just sucked. They could have just as easily let Lehann and Dan meet at the airport.

Another thing I didnt like was that Rachel's future was left completely uncertain, Janis set her up and had her arrested, we are given barely any information on her afterwards, and then Janis is living happily on the beach. I would have been much more satisfied with more details on Rachel, Janis accepting the consequences of what she had done and dealing with them.

I loved Janis, right to the end, but what she did to Rachel was appaling, she stole off her and had her arrested. Then a few episodes later shes stealing thousands of dollars. As far as I can tell, it appears Rachel is rotting away in jail because Janis decided to have her arrested, even though Rachel did nothing wrong to her, then Janis gets to live her dream living on a tropical island. Nice.

I guess thats what we get with an ending obviously rushed together.

I am happy that Ed and Poppy lived happily ever after with a child, and I like to think that Lorna and Nigel are still together. I guess its safe to think so as Nigel told Lorna he was a changed man and was in love with her, I dont see why they wouldnt still be together unless indicated otherwise. It was great to see that Janis and Will were happy together, but as I said, it was a slap in the face for no light to be shed on Rachel. If Rachel was still in jail, then I dont think Janis deserved a happy ending. Lehanns death and Dan's emotional destruction was just too much for me, I think it was just stupid to end their stories like that. They were both such amazing characters. They didnt deserve to go out the way they did.

I was always hoping to see either KC, Emma or Charlotte again, but oh well. It wouldnt really make much sense for KC to come back, given the reason she left. And as for Marco, I was so happy he left. He was just the most stupid and annoying loser on the show. He was a pathetic loser douchebag, I wish he was killed off. I could never stand him, he was such an emotional drama queen. Ugh, he made me sick.

Cherry Darling: I'm Cherry.
Dakota Block: You sure are.

I also loved the ending wrapping many thing up unlike many dramas. obviously they knew the show as cancelled but left things open for a new generation

I also felt uneasy with what Janis did to Rachel, that was out of character for her for the last series and was really nasty.

We have to assume after his AIDS scare, Will changed his sleeping around ways

BTW i would have loved for the show to have shown some gay sex, that really would have been cool !

I would have hoped Lorna and Nigel ended up together. I had no problem with lehann dying because you can't have all happily ever after.

In that last episode, one of the girls talking to Janis was Freeman from Doctor Who

Rachel did find her way home, that was her ending in a previous episode.

We never found out if Marco became a pilot.

the other loose ending was Jackie. She didn't get her comeuppance for her part in Jack's death

i hate the ending , just finally saw the last couple episodes which i downloaded, and i loved dan and lehann together, omg when he left i cried and then at the end when he calls her with such hope and happiness in his voice i melted! why couldnt they have their happy ending, i hate that nigel is still alive all this is his fault in some way, lehann would have been home if not for his crazy ex wife, he gets the heart attack yet he's get off easy breezy so unfair!
the worse part is lehann had a son no one thought that would be cruel to show, i'll just pretend the end didnt happen exactly that way, they met at their airport and got married a few months later, and 2 YRS afterwards dan was permitted to pass back his pilot license, lehann is pregnant with their kid! there much better ending!
