Gong Li's acting

I wasn't as critical about how Gong Li's character was portrayed. I agree that the character has hers flaws. But as far as critics saying that she acted very coldly to Chen Qing is completely blow out of proportion. When asked by Chen Qing if she liked the poet or himself better; she replied the poet but at the same time he did retort indirectly by saying that Zhou Yu was a distraction to him. Although he did say that was not what he meant, maybe he did because of her answer to his first question; point being he wasn't exactly heartbroken from her response. We could also consider that her answer alluded that he as as much a part of the poet as the poet was a part of him. And I don't think that she ever took his love for granted; she did genuinely want to be with him. Of course she did have an affair which is why I say she is flawed. At the same time I think it was out of desperation at the thought of never seeing him again. In the end her final act did prove that she only really loved Chen Qing.
