Memories of Murder vs Zodiac

Which one do you think is better? Two are quite similar and based on true story.

reply

I had a same thought after I watched Memories of Murder. I've got a feeling that Fincher saw Memories and was very impressed and influenced by it.
Zodiac is VERY good but I think that Memories is better.

Memories of murder is far superior to Zodiac

reply

Memories of Murder is much better. Zodiac has flaws/drags in places, but is still a great film.

Memories of Murder was outstanding. There was so much subtext. Big city vs. village "incompetence", and the eventual obsession behind the big city cop becoming as vengeful and relentless as the village. The ending was open ended as well. Excellent film.

Zodiac was more sensational and not as obscure as Memories. This was more of a "period film" and a deeply personal one for David Fincher, who spent part of his childhood in San Anselmo (during the Zodiac killings).

the fact that they are being mentioned together is kind of insulting...

Memories of Murder all the way

reply

both are good but memories of murder is better.the thriller factor and sense of humor in this movie is brilliant.

Hard to tell, both are great. Memories of Murder seems to have some symbolism (the cops being South Korean Presidents) which Zodiac lacks.

I'm quite certain that Fincher saw MEMORIES OF MURDER, loved it and used it as a big inspiration for his ZODIAC. And both movies are excelent.
