Oldboy is so overrated. It was pretty rad, but come on... Mr Vengeance was easily the pick of the three Vengeance films. That was brutal.
I bet most of the people saying Oldboy as their fav are from the States. That'd be interesting to find out. It seems to be the most accessible artistic film on anybody's list.

shareI agree that Oldboy is overrated. For many of the people in the US who have seen it, it is the only South Korean movie they know. It is more accessible.
shareIt's definitely not overrated, the acting, the story and the cinematography are one of the best I've ever seen, and don't forget the beautiful music. And believe me, I've seen my fair share of Asian cinema, guess almost 40 in the last year. This one just stands out. A moment to remember is great too so are a lot of others. Love every movies I've seen by Kim Ki-duk so far too!
