Could work as a Movie?

I mean, it's not the most original idea, but it seems it could work pretty much. Probably a question been asked over a thousand times now. The cast seems easy enough to assemble.

Mark Walhberg as Cody
Elisha Cuthbert as Jessica
Mickey Rourke as Haggar
Omar Epps as Guy
Timothy Olyphant as the Villain

Great choices, but can Colin Egglesfield and Moeller act? I would love to see either Josie or Elisha. That's a hard pick. I wouldn't want guys who are simply good in action roles. You need guys with some acting charisma, because you have to care about them. Even Arnold knows that much about acting. I've see Dacascos act, and he's decent enough.

Glad you like the choices, appreciated as I put a bit of work into them! Mark Dacascos is a great actor, he can play comedic roles to menacing villains as he did in many of his films and with his martial arts skills he will be a great GUY.
Colin Egglesfield is a very decent actor, I have seen him in many things from soap to action films and he is able to pull it off pretty well. An all-American looking boy with skills in martial arts (Kickboxing and Muay Thai also Chuck Norris' student Tang Soo Do apparently).
Ralf Moeller is a a great actor, he is much better than Arnold any day. He is what Arnold should have been, he has the looks and the ability to play Haggar!

Well, sounds really good. I like seeing new but good faces in meaty roles, more variety. That way you don't end up with Russell Crowe, Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt and even Johnny Depp. I mean, they're all good, respectable actors, but it gets a little annoying when you see the same faces over and over when they're are plenty of other good actors sitting on the benches.

reply

Glad you see that too, I am a fan of underrated talent and I believe in giving the people who sit on the bench a chance as well.

Ahh, the return of "Final Fight as a movie" discussion! Here were my ideas for the "main three":

Chris Evans as Cody Travers
Kane Kosugi as Guy
Kevin Nash as Mike Haggar

Other characters:
Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Jessica Haggar
Nathan Jones as Abigail
Ron Smoorenburg as Rolento Schugerg

Too tired right now to come up with others right this minute!

It's not a hard pick. I think there are at least 5 good choices for each role.
You need a young 28 to 32 year old guy for Cody, the tough, quick, good in a fight, but the youngest, so he has some growing up to do. Guy is a bit older than him, 35 to 39 and more streetwise, a bit less pretty, but the right women dig him enough. Haggar, big brawny mountain-type guy. Not fat, but big, like he could have been a great Quarterback or Runningback in the early 80s. He's business, matured, and friendly, can buddy up with the working man and match wits with the more elite. And of course, he can kick ass with the best of them. Little slower, little soarer, but when he does hit somebody, which is often enough, it hurts like sin.

Actually, Cody is only supposed to be roughly 21 or 22, while Guy is in his mid 20s, around 25 or so. Meanwhile, Haggar is indeed someone middle-aged, around 48, 49 I believe.

reply

Hmm, actually, that makes more sense.

Actually, I had some ideas for a story myself, and took elements from the "Street Fighter plot guide" online, which goes into disturbingly detailed information on not only the Street Fighter stories, but the Final Fight stories as well. Even detailing how supposedly the first game is supposed to take place in '87 rather than '89, saying it was a "retcon" through Street Fighter Alpha. Meanwhile, my ideas for the film version would rack the rating up to an R... despite the fact that the game officially has an "E" rating. Then again, that's for the censored US version, which has no blood, no female antagonists, and censored names. I think the story, when portrayed in reality, would have to be R, as these are three characters dealing with virtually countless murderous gang members. No watered down PG-13 crap.

reply

Yeah, you need R, just for the violence alone, and you're gonna need a few choice words. Wouldn't count on any sex or nudity, unless they pick Elisha Cuthbert for the role of Josey and they feel like indulging me for a five minutes.

If they were to do a movie, I wonder how it would be for Poison. Having a woman play him/her? Or what? Also who could play who if they were to do movies on Final Fight 2 or 3?

Without pain, without sacrifice, we would have nothing.

reply

The whole Roxy/Poison "man or woman" thing I think should be scrapped altogether. Hell, it caused too much confusion for just the games! And I'm not too enthused about adapting 2 or 3 into films. The stories seem too similar and the movies would fall into the "action sequel syndrome".

If a movie based on the first game ever came around, I would love to see Kane Kosugi as Guy take on Ron Smoorenburg as Rolento. If you really had a big enough budget, it'd be interesting to have Jack Nicholson as Belger. He looked the part in The Departed.

My Cast:
Mike Haggar - Kevin Nash
Cody Travers - Chris Evans
Guy - Rain
Rolento - Paul Logan
Abigail - Nathan Jones
Hugo Andore - Dalip Singh
Damnd - Justice Smith
Edi E. - Chi McBride
Belger - Peter Stormare
I have some doubts about Sodom's character and no idea about Poison

reply

For Poison, just get a hot chick (who can act), with a decent sized chest and nice abs, colour her hair pink, and you have Poison!

BTW, Poison is a she, regardless of what Capcom says. Stupid feminists and POS higher-ups in the American gov't can piss off, she's a chick, end of story.

reply

They should have done this years ago when Haggar could be played by Jesse Ventura.

Put Steve "Stone Cold" Austin in the role of Haggar, and you've got yourself a movie. He was MADE for that role!
