Who Plays Mom

On the Peanuts cartoons, they never show the parents (or any adult for that matter) because the kids are so much in charge of the whole story that it may diminish the fantasy.
I'm thinking the same think for Eloise. They never show her Mom's face directly nor do you even hear her voice. I'm supposing it's for that same effect.
The only actress that is listed as an extra or stand in on both movies is
Sandra Flammer. Does anyone know if this is the actress who plays her Mom?

Yeah I was thinking the same thing... In "Eloise at the Plaza" they do the same thing.

Everyone is born right handed only the BEST over come it!

The omission of the adults in the peanuts cartoons is to emphasize the kids.

Other programs that have done this, to minimize the authoritative figure, would be Mammy Two Shoes (Lillian Randolph) in the Tom and Jerry cartoons and Bea Benaderet in WB cartoons with the bulldog, Marc Anthony. They are never shown, but we hear their voices. There have been countless other cartoons to do this as well.

As for Eloise' mom, everytime I watch this, I can only suspect they wanted a name or star, and I always suspect they wanted Madonna to do just a two second cameo, then the stand in takes over once more.

Clearly someone major was wanted to appear as the mother, if for only that one scene after Eloise screams "Mother!" then they would show the star and use the stand in for the last twenty seconds of the movie.

Everytime I try to just shut off my brain and watch this thing, I am left wondering who they wanted for Mom. For some incredibly odd reason, I endlessly speculate they wanted Madonna for that appearance.

This is about one of the most obvious movies to note how Julie Andrews scenes are filmed seperately from everyone else as she was the biggest star and they had to shoot around her.

She wasn't just idly waiting on the set while the other actors did their scenes.

Even at the very end, when Julie hugs the mother, it is more than likely a stand in for that moment, in Julie's part.

Virtually every scene Julie has is nearly either by herself or with Eloise. Then at the end when she kisses the other fellow, but he wasn't a major actor.

Havent watched Plaza yet. if anything, I would deduce they anticipated a third movie (or fourth if there was a third already that I don't know about) and they wanted that major actress then.

Or they just concluded it was good gimmick to not show the mother.

As far as I know these books were written by a friend of Judy Garland and Eloise is supposed to be based on Liza Minnelli. I think they dont show the mother figure because its supposed to reflect the theme that Eloise is mostly raised by her nanny and the staff of the hotel.

Listen Lady! No one in this Family Barks!

Actually you are wrong when it comes to play her Mom, I looked up the full cast and crew for this movie, and the actress that plays her mom credited is Donna Feore. But you are so right for the parents or adults on the Peanuts cartoons they are never scene but at times you can hear them, but when you really hear those voices on the cartoons it is always about the same sound where you can't understand they are saying. But it seems like you can hear her Mom's voice breifly in this movie. It has been sometime since I watched Eloise at the plaza, so I can't remember if she was seen or heard.
