Based on a true story?

My son recently saw this movie and told me that it was based on a true story. Is that true, or is his comment as fictional as the movie?

reply

Well what your son said is partly true.
The director,Adrian Rudomin, is part Jewish part Mexican. What i heard is that the story its self is not all true, but the reason he wrote this movie is because apparently his family lived in Spain at the time of the inquisition and they were Jewish so they were also in the same position as the Jewish poeple in the movie. And thats how this whole story came to be! He told me that his family somewhere has the same kind of key that was in the movie!
Anyway, thats how much this movie is based on a true story!
I know this because i was in the movie!

The ones in Mexico and New Mexico were called Conversos but English speakers call them crypto Jews or Hidden Jews. Even in Mexico and New Mexico they were hunted down by the Catholic authorities even into this century. There are some who still will not come out of hiding.

The Catholic Church is running out of steam in Latin America. People go through the motions for weddings and funerals but the Church has lost its choke hold on every day life.

Some places are lucky to see a circuit riding priest every six months.
