The nominated songs

The even worse part about not having the nominated songs sung was that one of the other nominees was "Calling You" by Jevetta Steele from the movie Bagdad Cafe. You've never heard of it? Right, because it wasn't performed at the Academy Awards! If it had been, it would be world famous by now, because it's an **AMAZING SONG**! I was floored the first time I heard it, and saw the movie just because that song was in it (the movie was good too).

I didn't expect it to win because it was from an obscure movie, I knew Carly Simon's song would win, but I was looking forward to it being performed because it's beautiful and mesmerizing...hypnotic. It would have blown people away and many would have asked themselves WHY it didn't win. But no, it wasn't performed.

To add insult to injury, there were only *3* nominated songs that year! They had to have their Snow White skit and the tribute to Hollywood kids and other things that had nothing to do with the Academy Awards, and yet couldn't find time for the songs that had actually been nominated. Disgusting.

So yeah, I remember that show, quite unfondly, but not for Rob Lowe and SW.

In the end though, I have to give a cheer for the people who nominated the song. At least it has that.

Wow, you're right, good for you! (I am, or was, Equipoise, but I lost track of that account and had to make a new one).
