Guy from 'That's my Bush'

I saw ads for this movie a while ago. It said that Timothy Bottoms was to play President Bush. In watching the ad, I thought tastelessness was about to reach a new low. But, throughout the ad, there was no humor. So, this was to be a serious movie.
I was expecting the satirical worst mostly because Bottoms played Bush on the short-lived sitcom "that's my Bush" on Comedy Central, airing after South Park. This is the guy, who played Bush executing a guy in front of his frat buddies, attempting to euthanize his cat by means of a douche bag, and who once stole cable for the white house. The show was freakin' brilliant. It actually made me hate Bush less... maybe it's good the show was cancelled on that note.
Knowing this, why would they put this guy as the one to play Bush? Does the White House not watch Comedy Central? Are they so *beep* clueless? Well, I for one thought it was most hilariously ironic things I have seen on cable.
Oh, and the movie sucked balls. Even my dad, a huge Bush lover, said it sucked.

It IS totally hilarious that Bottoms was used for a flattering portrayal of Bush after doing W as a genial idiot in "That's My Bush." Maybe the reasoning was that since that series was canceled so quickly (which was too bad, I thought it was quite good and definitely envelope-pushing), no one would remember it was the same actor.
