It was a great idea i guess to make Lesner attempt something like that, it was a real shame that it didnt work that well. I would of been really great if he had pulled it off. Good to know that he got out of it with only a concussion. It was really scary watching it live, because we all thought that he has seriously injured himself.

I also think that the end of the match was the shooting star and i was disapointed to see him fail at landing it, but, lucky for me, i've seen him land it perfectly before.

It WAS supposed to finish with the SSP but lesnar fluffed it.
(notice how Kurt went for the victory pin right after, lesnar kicked out meaning he was o.k, kurt COULD have won Wrestlemania)

Brock Lesnar happens to be one of my absolute favorite wrestlers. His in ring presence is just tremendous. I remember watching WrestleMania XIX with my cousins at the theater and I freaked when he just went to the top rope. I mean, any man who could go to the top rope at 295 lbs. you know some damage is going to be done, but when he attempted that shooting star press, it just blew me away. I know that Brock used to do it in Ohio Valley Wrestling, but he was so much smaller then. I mean, it's great and all that he gave everyone a definite WrestleMania moment (considering his match with Goldberg sucked) but at the same time man, I was scared out of my mind. I honestly thought he had probably knocked himself out or something. Maybe even ended his career.

OMG YEA! wen i watched that i really thought lesnar was screwed. my mom came in the room right when it happened and she flipped out cuz she thought he was dead lol

reply

LOL too funny.

I mean your mom coming in and thinking that, heh heh. Like:

"Oh my God! What happened to him?? He's gotta be dead."

Heh heh.

That was a crazy move for a guy that big. The match might have been a bit better had he hit the shooting star press, maybe Angle would have kicked out, who knows. I just have to say that that was a killer match, my 2nd favorite of the event. HBK/Jericho was my favorite, then Rock/Austin III was my next one. Then Hogan/McMahon which turned out really good!

This is my signature, nice eh?

I saw it on tv and i seriously thought he broke his neck. I can't believe anyonne can land on there head and neck like that and only get a concussion. I think that should have ended his career.

Beware the Lord of Darkness!

What was really stupid, was that Kidman who had been doing the move since 96 as his finisher injured himself only 2 weeks prior to this match. Having Brock try it when he never used it in the WWE was a big mistake on the part of him and the booking crew or whoever else came up with it for finishing the match. I mean you are going to make your star player try that move when he's not built for it, and the guy who has been doing it for 7 years strait as a finisher injures himself 2 weeks prior to the ppv? Very neglectful of whoevers idea it was.

reply

It's not like Lesnar was trying the SSP for the first time. He knew how to do it. He missed it for three reasons: 1. Angle was too far away; 2. Lesnar under-shot it; and 3. The ropes were slippery from sweat. And that SSP *WAS* going to be the finish for the match. It was going to be one of those classic WrestleMania moments.

reply

I skimmed through Brock's book one time a while ago & he adds a few facts:

- The ropes were wet (common knowledge) which took away proper propulsion/lift required for the arc.
- He insisted that he could pull off the SSP but didn't want to for what was essentially an iron man match (just about). Apparently Jim Ross told him he really should do it & he said yeah sure.
Since the match was quite taxing & long, there was no way in hell he would be able to accomplish the SSP as he had every other time- he was nervous when it came to going for it.
- He was dazed upon landing, missing his final approach/rotation... Angle saved him by moving out of his way.

I still can't watch it when I play it anymore... the only saving grace is he was able to give a couple F5s to Angle, which makes me feel less queezy since those are just as grueling as a high spot.
If it had ended just with Angle laying down to end the match (like Owen for Austin), I think I'd feel sick even thinking about it... I need to see the guy back on his feet & mobile to feel okay about it lol.

reply

Yes it was great but please dont write in caps.

If the shooting star press was supposed to be the finish to the match, why would Kurt move out of the way at the very last second?

reply

Because he saw that Lesnar had botched it and rolled out of the way at the last possible moment. Do you honestly believe that WWE would have the 6'4" 295 lbs. muscle-bound freak Brock Lesnar pull off a Shooting Star Press for the first time in his dominant career and it NOT end the match? Come on, now...

reply

IF THAT WAS THE ORIGINAL PLAN FOR THE MATCH FINISH THEN Y ARENT U PRAISIN ANGLE FOR MOVING OUT OF THE WAY TO MAKE IT LUK LIKE HE MISSED IT! PROPZ TO ANGLE! HE NEVA GETS ENUF CREDIT!

reply

I was so happy to see Brock fall on his face with his giant ass coming down on him! Brock sucks and it was sooooooo much fun to see him show the world he sucks!

Grr Argh
