how come a Turkish director..


made an Italian film? in Italian with Italian Actors?

don't get me wrong this is a wonderful piece of film making

but I was just wondering

well, this is not the first time some foreign directors making films not from his background. If you check some directors film making history, you will see that in some point of their lives, they made some film which is not in their usual "expertise"

Ozpetek moved to Rome in I think the 70s to study, so it makes perfect sense that he would make an "Italian" film.

let's say it's a Turkish Italian film. quite fair, considering director's Turkish culture and Italian language used in the film.

He has only made Italian films. He lives in Italy, he just happens to be from Turkey.

Ang Lee also directed Toby Maguire in a movie about Quantrill's Raiders during the Civil War along the Kansas/Missouri border. Similar to the Outlaw Josey Wales by Clint Eastwood.
