Hitchcock Allusions? (spoiler alert)
I was amazed how two important elements of this movie reminded me of two of Hitchcock's best movies: Rear Window and Vertigo.
Rear Window: The idea of people staring at one another from their courtyard windows and becoming involved, voyeuristically with one another.
Vertigo: The fact that both movies involve a main character becoming involved with a person who is basically presents as an amnesiac, and then turns out to have a totally different identity. Also, Simone/Davide's wandering around Rome looking for his old haunts the way Madeline/Judy did in Vertigo. Even the music in some of these scenes was reminiscent of Vertigo's haunting soundtrack.
