Hollywood remake?

If ever Hollywood decide to do a remake of this beautiful movie, I'd cast...

. Cate Blanchett as Giovanna
. Sean Connery as Simone / Davide Veroli
. Jude Law as Lorenzo
. Josh Duhamel as Filippo
. Adriana Barraza as Eminè

and who would you chose?

I hope Hollywood NEVER remake this movie. There'll be more than a little bit lost in translation to Hollywood style.
Now I'm trying to think of actors - Franke Potente would do a good Giovanna.

if hollywood will ever remake this...
some changes will take place... for sure....
an old man who is an ex-viets soldier.... meeting a family of a wealthy man who runs an insurance company.... the wife got pissed of because the old man was harrasing her addict kid.... then the vegas gambler jumps in... they will meet in a resort on the carribian.... they will have an affair... till it appears to the hasbund that the gambler is planning for a con on the wife to take some money to pay back an old debt in vegas, otherwise he'll be dead....
the ex-viet appears to be that guy's father.... and then everybody will get killed excpet for the gambler.... who might be brad bitt....

Good choice. I'm not sure about Jude Law though...not sure who I'd rather have either. I wouldn't mind a remake.

Cate Blanchett would be good as Giovanna.
But I think Rachel Weisz would be better.
I think "Notes on a Scandal" is affecting you judgement a bit, no?
Cate Blanchett is more like a girl who doesn't know when to stop and later smiles a half-foolish half-childish smile about it and looks at the floor, embarrassed. Giovanna is more manly. She has vigour. Besides, Cate is too pale.
Everything else seems cool, but Sean Connery would be too majestic for a retired baker. Anthony Hopkins is better. He is an actor of superlative skills. But in this case, someone a little thinner and taller could be better suited...
like Ian McKellen, maybe?
Just an opinion!

First, this movie was so well done, a remake, especially by Hollywood, could only fall short. The current remake of the The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is a prime example of what happens if you try to duplicate excellence.

This movie is so engrossing that the english subtitles were just absorbed into the movie. Same for the swedish version of TGWTDT!

Massimo Girotti was great as Davide Veroli. Giovanna Mezzogiorno is so breathtakingly beautiful. You might be able to replace Massimo with Tom Wilkinson, but Sean Connery would be tough to pull off as a concentration camp survivor. You can't just throw off Giovanna's beauty either. Her attractiveness is part of the glue that ties each of the male characters to her.

And enough cannot be said about the directing, as a masterpiece such as this film, doesn't just happen along everyday.

On the other hand, if Hollywood, can make a better remake of this, it will not be one to miss!
