Awful casting
Not on the ability of the leads, but, Linda was 10 years older than Cole, Kevin Kline was too old and Ashley Judd too young because of that, if they'd had a younger lead actor it would have worked better
shareI agree that the two leads did not fit their respective roles in appearance or age, but I just loved these two in the movie so much that I forgive it. Wrong of me? Maybe. But they are the reasons this movie is so charming, IMO.
shareI think it's a sign of an amazing cast, plus excellent cinematography and directing, that we are able to be wrapped up in a film in such a way that we can forget about little things (age, hair color, or the fact that it's obvious that some characters are lip-synching or faking it on the piano!)
(And I just realized that I have written the longest run-on sentence in the history of English grammar...so sorry...)
