Nope sorry not with you. Macgyver doesn't have a nephew he is an only child. It doesn't make any sense.

sharewho cares? lots of people will care because if we're gonna invest time and interest on a new series based on a character we loved watching from the original series the least they could do is do it right and keep the continuity accurate and not make it unbelievable from the get go. believe it or not that sounds like a small detail but, but thats what people grow to like about shows that they been watching for some time and have a vested interest in. It also makes the new show and character more credible and believable if there was a backstory that actually existed from the original series thus making this characters existance more credible and not that he just came out of thin air. when on many occasions and many episodes it's been pointed out that he was an only child and has no living family other the old man, can't remember if it's his gramps or his uncle, so0 anyways thats who cares. you be surprised how a small detail like that can ruin a show and it's viewership. either do it right or dont do it at all. although me personally i think if richard dean anderson isn't playing the part then it's not worth making, he'll always be macgyver no offense to his character of General Jack O'neal which he is also singularly great at playing on SG-1.

Where was it he met Pete? In a taxi cab or in the desert during some Camel-related debacle?
What company was it he worked for.. the DXS or the pheonix foundation?
And then there's his whole backstory thing - Nam vet, former race car driver, cook on a ship, almost-pro athlete, flying all over south america, 25 crazy ex girlfriends - anything can go into his past as long as it serves the plot! Not to mention randomly discovering he has a son. Or how almost every guest star on the show looked suspiciously like a completely different character who'd appeared previously.
So I don't think ret-conning a nephew into the mix is a big deal at all. They might have had some elabourate story to explain it eventually, but they obviously never got that far.
And to the person who asked - all 3 producers on this series were producers on the original.
I've seen the pilot at least 100 times and i love it. it would of been great
shareExactly. I would love more MacGyver anyhow and it's only a TV program so accuracy of fictional characters isn't exactly what I care about the most when I watch TV - I care for the entertainment value.
