More tv clips, less prop comedy

Harry Hill is bringing way too much of his stand up comedy into the show and is reeling back the amount of commenting he does on actual TV. The show is sliding in quality because he seems to be watching less TV and is commenting much less on TV.
Its very annoying!

shutup dweeb.

reply

"Dweeb"- wtf is that? When are you from?
Well if you don't agree with me that probably means you've only started watching it.

reply

That, or he has his own opinion. Unbelievable, I know!

reply

i kinda agree. I absolutely love TV Burp but I do hunger for more clips sometimes rather than the prop stuff

Personally I think it shud be on for an hour every week but I guess they wouldnt be able to put it all together that quickly!

It really deteriorated towards the end of the last series. The quivering jelly, the "cloth" character from eastenders, the shark, all the other props - it just wasn't funny. I found it slightly childish - I know it goes out at teatime but is it aiming for a juvenile audience? "Fiiiiight!!" got old a LONG time ago.

Harry's strengths are surreal observations and wordplay - I agree with the OP: Burp needs far more clips laced with Harry's critiques and less of the childish slapstick.

reply

I too agree with the OP. The props really aren't that funny and I am just waiting for the next clip to play. He does rely on them more than ever now.

reply

The props are funny, but I do agree that they are replacing the substance of the show, which is TV observation. Having TV Burp follow You've been framed was a genius idea, it's like an hour of Harry bashing movie and TV clips and made my sunday for me. Until my boss started with the sunday night shifts. I might kill him.

With your feet in the air and your head on the ground, try this sig with spinach!

I agree. I love Hill but spend half of this programme browsing my magazine waiting for the next clip. Lord knows he has enough fresh material being supplied to him via the soaps.

reply

I really enjoy TV burp but I do agree with you, it needs to have more TV observation and less prop comedy.

I still find parts of the show funny but it isn't half as entertaining as it was a couple of years back, this is coming from someone who has watched it from the beginning, I have definitly noticed a change in the show's format.

Op is right, this showwent downhill drastically when they insisted on an overuse of unfunny props. It became so bad that it was practically insulting to anyone with intelligence.

It should be noted that this was also when the show started to become more well know and popular. Make of that what you will.
