Spike TV version - feels like a different movie

Caught this on Spike TV earlier tonight. After seeing it countless times on DVD and Bluray, I've noticed the differences in the version that Spike aired. It seems that almost every scene uses alternate angles and/or alternate takes. The most glaring example is the scene where Chris arrives home and is eating dinner with his family. They seem to be using alternate takes; the performances were noticeably weaker, almost like it was a workprint. The editing wasn't as tight either, as there were noticeable pauses in between lines of dialogue. However, I did like that they reincorporated the deleted scenes, it added some much needed length to the movie. Anyways, I don't know the reason why this version was aired, but I'm glad the movie that was shown on Spike isn't the official version.

"Wasn't Einstein German?"
"Hard to tell from his accent, Russ."
