Lovely fightscenes

There weren't a whole lotta fight scenes in this movie but the few that were there were pretty g*dd*mn nice.
The fightscene I liked the most was the one by the riverside

The way it was filmed was incredibly unflashy (no fancy cuts, very calm camerawork) and the same goes for the goreography. The actors just used some very simple moves and they were shown to be pretty capable in the use of swords because you could just see them going about their business in some long shots (no cutting to camouflage an actor's incapabilities).

I agree, especially as to the scene you reference; Samurai duels were often quick and incisive; this aspect was perfectly created in all the fights in the movie. In many forms of fighting it is the subtle movements that enable one to win the fight, 'Seibei' (Sanada) exemplified that quality in abundance.

The thing I loved about the river fight is that, despite being rather short, it is incredibly good and doesn't leave you wanting more.

Usually an afterthought lingers when a fight scene is short.

I agree. The fights felt very real and were well made.

Just like the movie in all other aspects, I believe.
