Love Yoji Yamada's approach to humor

I love how Yoji Yamada adds a dash of humor to this movie. For instance, when Seibei tells his servant to deliver a message to Tomoe, the servant was so concerned about memorizing the message.
I have seen the same style of humor throughout the samurai trilogy. In The Hidden Blade, it was absolutely hilarious to watch the samurai as they tried to adapt to Western style military techniques.
In Love and Honor, Shinnojo's servant was extremely fearful, it was so funny to watch him!
I love these 3 movies! They are so beautifully written, they just make me adore the Japanese culture.

Me too. It was vital, too. Otherwise the whole film would have been far too dire and serious and therefore harder to relate to, less realistic. The humour is an integral part in immersing the viewer in a bygone time.
